Yamagiwa | Mayuhana Mie Pendant Lamp
MODEL OPTIONS:
Pendant lamp comprised of three nested spun fiberglass shades and steel frame. To be hard wired with canopy into the ceiling. The shade is made from by spinning the frame while a fiber glass stream is laid continuously. Mayuhana Mie Pendant lamp by Yamagiwa is designed by Toyo Ito.
Yamagiwa Corporation was established in Tokyo in 1923 as a lighting retailer. Over the following century it evolved into one of Japan's most significant lighting manufacturers, distinguished by a series of landmark design collaborations that brought international designers into dialogue with Japanese craft traditions. The Mayuhana, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Toyo Ito, uses spun fiberglass to create a cocoon-like form that produces a warm, luminous glow unlike any other material. The Tear Drop by Tokujin Yoshioka suspends crystal in a teardrop geometry that refracts light across a room. The Jakobsson collection reissues Hans-Agne Jakobsson's celebrated pine-strip Scandinavian designs under licence in Japan - a Swedish mid-century classic manufactured with Japanese precision.
